Algorand Wallet

Setting up your Algorand Wallet

Background

The Algorand Wallet lets you hold and transact with Algos and Algorand Standard Assets (ASAs). The wallet itself is made up of accounts, each with their own unique address, backup phrase, and assets. In order to create accounts and eventually transact, you'll first need to set up the Algorand Wallet.

Initial Setup

When you open the app for the first time, the first thing you’ll need to do is create a 6-digit passcode for the wallet as well as optionally enabling biometric login (such as FaceID or FingerprintID). This passcode doesn't recover your account if you lose your phone or uninstall the app, it's simply a security to measure for entering the wallet.

1. On the first screen you see, tap Add Account.

2. Next, choose a 6 digit passcode that will unlock this wallet. If you have a phone with biometric unlock options (such as FaceID or FingerprintID) you may see options to enable those as well.

That's it! The initial setup is complete! Once you've selected a passcode that unlocks the Algorand Wallet, you'll be prompted to create an account from a variety of options. While you can find information about each type of accounts in our tutorials section, we recommend starting with the Creating a New Account tutorial.
